About God
Roman Road to Salvation

How to Know That You Are Saved

(And How to Lead Someone to Accept Christ)

Step 1

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Accept: We must accept that no one is good enough to be saved or to earn salvation.

Step 2

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Admit: We have all done something that the Word of God says not to do.

-“And come short of the glory of God. Basically, we are not like God. (Like Adam and Eve were before they transgressed. Gen. 5:1-3)

-This is why none is righteous.

Step 3

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Understand: The sin nature is not our fault, we are born with it. But choosing to sin is our fault.

-This is how that all have the ability and willingness to sin or “all have sinned.”

-This is another reason why we fall short of the glory of God: because, we choose to sin.

Step 4

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Realize: For sinning against God’s holy person and law, the punishment is spiritual death/hell/eternal separation from God.

Step 5

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Understand and Receive: God showed us His love/benevolence by Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

-This is the gift that must be accepted to erase consequences of the sin nature we inherited. The blood of Jesus washed away all the sins of everyone that has ever lived and those not yet born. Jesus’ blood erased the consequences of Adam’s choice.

Step 6

Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Receive: When we accept the work of Christ on Calvary, we are imbued by the Holy Spirit with spiritual life or light.

Step 7

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Embrace: Salvation is when we are given, literally, the essence of the Holy Spirit to live inside of us. The “light” of the Lord God.

-It is God’s power and energy that “alters” our spirit.

In Summary, salvation was made to be so easy for the simple fact that we are all born in a state that we did not and would not ask to be in.

God, in his “justice” simply nullified all the sins that everyone will ever commit due to that sinful state.

God in His “mercy” forgives our willful sins.

And in his “grace”, He restored everyone to where He meant us to be, which is with him.

The only hitch is that grace and mercy are a gift that must be accepted and received.

It is each person’s choice as to whether or not they receive that gift, which is in and on the name of Jesus Christ.
